Training V/s Skill Training

Training is teaching, or developing in oneself or others, any skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. Training has specific goals of improving one’s capability, capacity, productivity and performance. Basic Skills Training is a program element in the Work Foundations program. In other words Basic Skills Training programs are designed to assist unemployed or marginally employed adult Albertans to develop the basic competencies needed to obtain employment and/or to pursue further employment-related training. The skills program that is used for career development to develop the ability to tackle complex problems in the workplace using known analytical problem solving techniques, design thinking, and effective research. The new programme aims at providing training and skill development to 500 million youth of our country by 2020, covering each and every village. Various schemes are also proposed to achieve this objective. The emphasis is to skill the youths in such a way so that they get employment and also improve entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ambitious projects that aims to train over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022. The scheme aims to recognise and provide skill to 24 lakh youth who lack formal certification, such as workers in vast unorganised sector.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is an Indian not-for-profit company set up to address the need for providing skilled manpower across various industry sectors. It was founded in 2009 by the Ministry of Finance, and is currently under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development in a country. The National Skill Development Mission launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on July 15, 2015, aims to create convergence across sectors and States in terms of skill training activities. The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
