The Coronavirus pandemic has forced us to stay home. Let’s turn this into an opportunity to learn new skills. Here are ten ways students can make the most of the Covid-19 lock-down.

With increasing Covid-19 cases in India, the state governments are regularly calling for a total coronavirus lockdown all over the country. As it is important to slow down public movement and break the chain of the Coronavirus spread, social distancing is a must. It becomes crucial for us to stay home for this time period and stop the coronavirus from spreading further.

However, just because you are sitting at home, it doesn’t mean you cannot get any work done or learn anything new. Here are few ideas you can explore to remain productive during the Coronavirus lock down:

Make a Study Plan

The first step is to create a study plan. You can set reminders on your phone or use a wall planner. The study plan can be created around the topics that need to be covered and assign time according to your understanding of the topic.

Make a weekly or monthly timeline of what you will study and how many chapters or questions you want to cover each day. These goals should be visible to you on your wall. At the start, you may see it as impossible but ticking of each day and seeing your past progress will act as a motivator to your study.

Test Yourself

Assessing your progress is an important part of studying. While self-studying, students can take mock tests and quizzes available online to evaluate their knowledge in the subject/topic. Ask your parents or siblings to quiz you on topics that you have recently studied.

Utilise Online Classes– As many coaching institutes are providing online classes during this lockdown, students should utilise these online classes to clear their doubts. This will provide them expert guidance. Along with this, students can also check various free lectures available on platforms like Youtube to clear their doubts.

Think about how you learn best
Different students prefer different methods of learning so it’s worth thinking about what works best for you. For some, the simple question/answer format of flashcards enables easy self-testing while for others the more visual form of the mindmap is great at showing how the various aspects of a topic are linked.

Take a Break

And last but not the least, relax. Self-study requires that you take well-placed breaks and don’t stress. Taking regular breaks from study is important to re-energise your mind.

Relax– It is important that this lockdown doesn’t become all work and no play for students. It means along with studies, students should also give time to some activities like watching TV, listening to music, reading music, playing games or whatever they like in order to be relaxed and calm.

Do not waste time– Although students should give proper time to recreational activities during lock-down it is important that students understand when they need to stop. Students should not waste their time watching TV, playing video games. They should know how much time should be invested for such activities.

We’ll get through this! Meanwhile, here’s all you need to know about the Coronavirus outbreak to keep yourself safe, informed, and updated.
